LiveStrong Together

We are joinging Milo and Alfie in supporting LiveStrong. The Woman’s father is not a cancer survivor, but he did have cancer.  We support other survivors by walking in the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer walk and by donating what we can to the ACS.  We are happy to find a place like Livestrong that focuses on survivorship.

LiveStrong’s focus is,

  • We must provide access to quality cancer care for everyone.
  • We must improve the quality of life for people affected by cancer.
  • We must manage cancer through prevention, early detection, planning and data collection, with an emphasis on survivorship.
  • We must invest in and align research with health outcomes.

Farewell Luxor

Today is not a good day in the blogosphere.  We also have to say good bye to our dear friend Luxor.  He hasn’t blogged as much since having been diagnosed with a heart condition but he was an early blogger.  His person is a marvelous photographer and it is well worth checking through his blog for some of her amazing shots of this gorgeous cat.    Luxor will be very missed.

Good-Bye Friend Eric

Momma was so thrilled to have met Fat Eric’s Momma just a few weeks ago.   Eric was doing well that weekend, although Cheysuli had just gotten sick.   Then Fat Eric (who is no longer real fat) stopped eating at the cattery.  They found cancer.   His Momma had to make the decision to let him go from thousands of miles away.  It makes Momma just want to cry for her that she did not get to give him one last hug.

I know, we all know, that Eric knew how adored he was.   He is no doubt enjoying the world across the Bridge.   Please tell Eric’s family that you are thinking of them.

And Lando had a doot!

Really sick

Cheysuli remains feeling ill.  She is not eating–we are forcing her food and have to give her fluids.  She is slightly lethargic and continues to have diarrhea and vomiting and drooling all the time.   The vets think it is related to her belly.    They took films but there appears to be no foreign bodies.    The pattern was severe gassiness throughout her tummy, Small intestine and especially her colon (which is normal).   They said that the pattern of gas doesn’t match a pattern of a foreign body that just wasn’t visible on the films.

Force feeding her is not a joy.   And she won’t eat but it’s been long enough that there is no choice.  She is getting some herbal medicine and had a homeopathic yesterday.  She does not have a fever which is weird if she’s that sick but she is not throwing this off.     She has moments when she seems better and others where she is just not feeling good at all.

Her eyes are SOOO SOOO sad too.

Purrs that she gets better.

Beautiful Blogger

I got this lovely award from Ayla and Iza! Of course I am beautiful–and what a perfect day to get it!

I am supposed to tell you 7 new things about me.  Let’s see…

I have five teeth left.

I am a very good cat around human food on a plate.  I must be invited to share.

I like other cats (but Gemini is mean to me so I don’t always like her).

I am beginning to cuddle with the Woman at night, as if I were cold.

The Male’s son is my favorite person ever and he is only a few hours away now (and not in Japan!).

So then I guess I must pass this on. However, this has been going on for awhile so I don’t know who else hasn’t had it. Consider yourself tagged, as you are all beautiful!

I Rock (of course)

Wow! The FurryDance Cats gave me the You Rock Award!  I am so excited. You know they are curly cats just like my friend Daisy.

I get to pass this one to five other bloggers (oh dear that could be hard) so how about:

Ducky (because I don’t think he’s gotten an award of his own yet)

Herman (because I think he gave me an award not long ago and the Woman hasn’t put that up yet)

Iza and Ayla (’cause meezers need awards!)

Max (because he so does)

Sweet Praline

I don’t know how many other cats have gotten this award. It’s always so hard because we’re usually at the tail end of the award list so hopefully someone in there hasn’t gotten it before!

Dona Nobis Pacem

fullsizeIt is my belief that whereas the twentieth century has been a century of war and untold suffering, the twenty-first century should be one of peace and dialogue. As the continue advances in information technology make our world a truly global village, I believe there will come a time when war and armed conflict will be considered an outdated and obsolete method of settling differences among nations and communities.
