Sunday Guest Star AGAIN! Skeezix

01___26jan2008__01Early on, Skeezix came by and guessed:

Oh, Chey, it’s PURRfect for you…. Château de Cheverny in France?

And just in case, he came back and said:

Oops, was I spesifik enuf? The Château de Cheverny is Cheverny in the Loire Valley in France

And yes, it does look perfect for me. Perhaps a bit small but you know I quite liked this one. Much better than Chamborg which tended to be drafty.

Maggy and Zoey also knew we were in the Loire Valley as well so I give them thumbs up.

Jeter Harris got the right answer… but of course he cheated just a little bit! Still he is a very smart cat to know how to cheat! He’s just got to stop admitting that he does it!

Uncle Mo said:

A chateau in France would be purrfect for you!

I believe he is correct. I am the chateau type aren’t I? I would like to thank him for recognizing that. And when I purchase it, we shall have a wonderful wild party. Imagine all the THofE we could play THERE!

At any rate, I apologize for the poor photo quality this past week. Those photos are from 1984 when the Woman spent January in the Loire Valley in college. They spoke only French as they toured, so she reminds us, she was very quiet. However, she didn’t remember what to say when they passed through England and a lovely young woman said, “Hello.” After all, this was such a strange word and the Woman was so unused to hearing it. She said she probably looked like an idiot standing there trying to smile but unable to think of a single response that wasn’t in French! Still she loved the visit and they learned about the history of Louis IV (That is Louis Cat-oars–which really bothers me–I mean did he like make cats do all the rowing?) and Diane de Poitiers. They also visited Poitiers (obviously) and La Rochelle and Nante and of course, Paris. The Woman felt that Notre Dame de Paris would have been too obvious and the Louvre photos are so old they wouldn’t really have been recognizable as the new pyramid was in the midst of being built.

lastjanAh what a lovely place to live. I am looking for a new house you know, since the White House thing didn’t work out. In fact, the new President is not even hiring me to be the White House Cat. He says my talents would be wasted there (and he is of course correct). However I’ve been house hunting for so long, I can’t recall where I am!

Where is this delightful little cottage?!

Sort of Thankful Thursday

img_6008aGemini thinks she is top cat again, here on the stairs. I think this little one is getting above her station. All because I wanted to take time to nap rather than run around trying to tell humans what to do–now there is a thankless job if I ever heard one!

With all the economic problems, I am quite glad I made the choice to nap. I realize that some may think that I am avoiding my own call to greatness, but we have to have balance in our lives. Imagine what I would have to do to try and fix all of these problems, with the rampant specism in this country.

My empty food dish and having to defend my bed would be the least of my problems!

Humans must wake up to the fact that this is their mess and they can’t expect us cats to coming running to their rescue just because they want us to.

Now having said that, I am quite thankful that I have a sun spot to nap in… even if Gemini is annoying me, as usual.

Cheysuli on Edge of Eviction

img_5928aAfter nearly starving to death with my mostly empty food bowl, now I worry that I will be evicted from my bed.  Yes that’s right. That’s how horrible things are.

Gemini has been pouncing upon me mercilessly.  I think young puffy cats should be prevented from wreaking havoc upon the household.  Every cat should be worried. After all, how many of you have younger cats? How many of you are driven from your beds by them?

It’s a tragedy that this has been allowed to go on unchecked, with humans laughing it away as if it were nothing.

Gemini Airs Opinions on Global Warming

img_5957aI don’t understand this weather thing. I sit inside and sometimes it is sunny and nice and sometimes not so nice and sometimes there is white stuff on the ground. Momma often tries to get me outside then because she wants to watch me walk on it, but I am very smart. I do not go because I do not like to get my toes wet at all.

I don’t understand why Momma won’t ski. First there was no snow. Then there was too much snow. I would think that if they needed snow they would want more of it? But no. They closed the area she skis at because of too much snow–well at least the way in. And then they had rain and everything fell down. They even had a mudslide in one part of the ski area where she skis and it damaged the lodge there and a couple of cabins.

Then she went up last week but it was kind of icy and foggy and she met the Horse named Charley. I think she should have met Snap. Anyway the following Friday it was so warm they had to make snow (I wonder how they do that?) and so it wasn’t all that nice and now tomorrow she isn’t sure if she’ll go up because it will snow again and she is worried at the amounts that she might not be able to get home.

I hope she doesn’t go if she might not come right home! I don’t like being without my Momma!

Cheysuli Languishes Beside Empty Food Dish

img_5992aA sign of the times, here I am wasting away near my empty food dish. How many other cats are suffering in this economy? Even Microsoft laid off nearly 1400 people (almost 900 of them in the Seattle area). We need assistance now.

The new President needs to get some things passed. We need incentives for people to continue buying their cats premium cat food. How about cat food vouchers for good cat food? How about a nationwide veterinary health plan? We need people to build stroller lanes for cats out walking. This would mean more jobs for those building the infrastructure. And how about rebuilding, retooling, refitting and just redoing many of our shelters? They can all be solar and wind power and thundering herd of elephant powered buildings!

Editor’s note: Cheysuli please note that that semi empty dish is really only your extra water dish upstairs and not a food dish and make changes appropriately. CHEYSULI!

Skeezix The Cat Is Sunday Guest Star!

skeezix_shades_final_500pxWell Skeezix the Cat got there early and guessed correctly. Actually he told me where he was with a grand air of authority and I knew absolutely that he was right.

Isn’t that the Puente Ondulante bridge near the Maldonado Brook north shore beach in Uruguay?

Kaika, Camie’s Kitties, and Jeter Harris all guessed correctly to. Since when do you all travel so much?!

Sabrina, Sam and Simon invited me here and so I went. As Gandalf and Grayson said,

What an unusual and beautiful bridge, Chey. Purrfectly suitable to compliment your fabulous beauty!

How could I not go?

And for those who were thinking like Ramses:

Chey you’re on a bridge and I think you’ve made it bow in the middle a bit dear…

*I* did not make it bow. It was bowed before I got there… nor am I doing the backstroke and I do not allow belly touches…

Ah another good napping spot! I’m hoping to get a little sun on my pale pale belly.  But sometime I’m going to need to come home.  Can anyone tell me where I am so I can get there from here?

Why Did Momma Get A Horse Named Charlie?

thursWell, who can’t be thankful for a nice warm fire?!

I certainly am.  Momma got back after a very short day skiing. She got a horse named Charlie on the slopes and it wouldn’t go away and so she had to come home. I guess she had a hard time getting her boot off.  I think Charlie may have stepped on her or something because then she talked about being in pain.

I sat there and I purred at her lots to make her feel better.

Chey and Georgia were there too snoozing by the fire.
